Creating Christmas fun with LEGO!

24 November 2017

We’re thrilled to welcome LEGO to Evelina London this Christmas.

They’re kindly building a tree for our patients to enjoy, donating decorations everyone can build, and giving out plenty of LEGO to our families.

It’s all part of LEGO’s festive campaign to encourage the Great British public to put their creative imaginations to the test and build dazzling LEGO decorations! For every one built and shared at events across the country, LEGO promises to donate a LEGO kit to a child in hospital, to spread some Christmas cheer.

Michele Simons knows how tough it is for families spending Christmas in hospital. Her three-year-old son Marcus was born prematurely and continues to be treated at Evelina London for long-term ventilation needs.

‘The hospital saved Marcus’ life on many occasions - we are so indebted to the wonderful staff’

‘Marcus spent the first 18 months of his life and his first Christmas at Evelina London. As a parent, it’s especially hard spending Christmas in hospital. Building LEGO helps the time pass in a more exciting way and Marcus loves LEGO – it’s great for his fine motor skills. Generosity from supporters like LEGO makes those difficult times more bearable.’

Evelina London Director, Marian Ridley, adds:
‘Evelina London is delighted to be partnering with LEGO this Christmas to bring some fun and creativity to the children we care for at a time of year that can be particularly tough for families whose children need to be in hospital. We can’t wait to get building LEGO decorations with our patients and their families and see their imaginations run wild.’

A big thank you to LEGO for their wonderful support!
