Why we need your help

Why we need your help

Evelina London Children’s Hospital is the second largest provider of children’s services in the capital. We serve as a local community hospital for south London and the south east region, as well as a specialist referral centre for children from across the UK with rare disorders.

Evelina London treats children with all kinds of conditions. We are one of the UK’s leading hospitals for children’s heart services, and specialists in kidney transplants and dialysis, cleft lip and palate surgery, and conditions affecting children’s metabolism, brains and nervous systems.

Your donations help us to achieve this by:

  • Caring for extremely premature babies during the first critical days and months of their lives. Equipment in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, including incubators, a ventilator and specially shaped pillows which cradle and support premature babies, ensure the best possible care is provided.

  • Quickly detecting genetic diseases. A specialised piece of equipment called a tandem mass spectrometer can detect inherited disease in newborn babies in just 15 minutes, which means children can get treatment faster that saves lives and prevents disability.

  • Providing safer spinal surgery for children. The Jackson table is a special spinal surgery table that keeps patients perfectly positioned during incredibly complex and delicate operations. Nearly 200 spinal surgical procedures have taken place at Evelina London each year. All of these children have benefitted from spinal surgery performed with the aid of the Jackson table and it will continue to impact families’ lives for many years to come.

All gifts, including legacies, fund projects like this, ensuring that the care we give to our young patients and their families is the best possible, whilst providing a welcoming environment that makes hospital a little less scary.

It means we can go above and beyond in the care we provide every day. If you would like to know more, read about how to get started
